I created this piece as a tribute to Drake—not just as an artist, but as someone whose journey resonates with me.
As a fellow Canadian and light-skinned Black man, I saw parts of myself in him growing up. He was the voice of an era, the artist we all listened to through the 2010s, shaping the soundtrack of our lives.
Drake’s evolution is what inspires me most. From his early days on Degrassi to becoming a global icon, he’s constantly reinvented himself while staying true to his artistry.
He went from the nerdy kid on TV to the "certified lover boy", hitmaker we know today, proving that there’s always room for growth. That’s the energy I wanted to capture in this piece—the journey, the transformation, and the confidence to embrace change.
